Class Description

Are you curious about the possibilities of creative expression with clay? In this 8-week deep dive, we will explore communicating ideas, stories, and emotions with clay as our medium.

Each week we will discuss examples of artwork by a diverse spread of artists and talk about strategies they use to make impactful work. Technical skill demos will be catered to the projects students want to explore and may include topics such as solid sculpting, bisque molds, large-scale coil building, and more. You do not need to have a particular project in mind to join the class - we will gather inspiration from example artists and each other!

This class is limited to eight students, ensuring that each participant gets ample individualized attention. Some clay experience is recommended (such as a 6-week intro class). Greenware will end on week 6 and we will spend the final 2 weeks glazing and finishing our work.

What to Expect

All clay, glazes, and firing will be provided. This class includes Open Studio at RECC! You will have access to their ceramics facilities during their usual hours, which you can book using their scheduling software. Students will receive an email the week prior to the workshop with access instructions. Full refunds are available up to one week before the class.
